The original Zombies Live by Storm8 has been retired. If you remember building a horde on an iPhone or iPod Touch, you are looking for an older online RPG, not a modern zombie shooter with a similar name. Here is what made it memorable and another multiplayer zombie game to try today.
What was Zombies Live?
Zombies Live was a Storm8 multiplayer RPG released for iPhone in 2009. You played as a zombie, brought friends into a horde, completed missions and developed your character’s abilities. Its appeal came from the character you kept improving and the other players around you.
It belonged to the same early mobile RPG era as Vampires Live and iMobsters. Those names are useful clues if you are trying to remember which game you played years ago.
Can you still play the original Zombies Live?
The retired Storm8 game is not an official current option for returning to your old horde. Historical listings and screenshots can still appear in searches, but they do not establish that the original online service is running. A similarly named game is not necessarily the same title.
Why did Zombies Live disappear?
Its retirement is documented in community records, and players were already discussing its absence from the App Store in 2015. We have not verified a publisher explanation for the closure, so there is no basis here to attribute it to a particular business or technical problem.
How does Zombie Slayer compare?
The shared appeal is a character that develops over time, equipment to collect and other players to meet or challenge. The perspective is different: Zombies Live put you in an undead horde; Zombie Slayer puts you in a survivor’s role.
- Build a survivor: complete Outbreaks, earn experience and develop your character.
- Take on rivals: explore player Fights as well as the zombie setting.
- Find a team: join a Faction and work towards shared goals.
- Keep progressing: return to your character and decide what to improve next.
What should a returning RPG player do first?
Follow the tutorial and complete an available Outbreak. Read its costs and rewards, then inspect the equipment and character choices you have unlocked. Once the basics feel familiar, look for a Faction that welcomes beginners.
This starts a new character. A Zombies Live account, horde or purchase history does not transfer into Zombie Slayer.
